How to Obtain a WashU Key
Overview
External collaborators who need access to CNDA must first obtain a WashU Key. This is Washington University's network credential for non-WashU personnel and is required before you can create a CNDA2 account. WashU Keys for external users are issued through a faculty sponsorship process and are managed by WashU IT, not the CNDA Help Desk.
Before You Start
- You must have a WashU faculty member who will sponsor your application
- This is typically the PI on the project or projects you are working on
- You only need one sponsor, regardless of how many projects you are associated with
Step 1: Complete the Guest Request Form
Complete the WashU Key guest request form:
Use the following values when completing the form:
- Page 1: Enter your demographic information
- Page 2:
- Duration: 6–12 months
- Visiting location: N/A
- Purpose: Electronic access to cnda.wustl.edu
- Page 3: Enter the email address of your WashU faculty sponsor
Step 2: Wait for Approval
- WashU IT will contact your faculty sponsor to confirm their approval before your key is issued
- You will receive an email notification when your key is approved
TIP
- Keys are valid for the duration selected during the application, up to a maximum of one year
- Contact your faculty sponsor to request a renewal before your key expires
- CNDA Help Desk does not manage WashU Keys and cannot approve, renew, or revoke them
Information for Sponsors
If you are a WashU faculty member sponsoring an external collaborator:
- You can contact WashU IT to revoke a key early if the collaboration ends
- Keys are valid for the duration selected during the application, up to a maximum of one year, and must be renewed by the sponsor
- CNDA Help Desk does not manage WashU Keys and cannot approve, renew, or revoke them
